FEINEN, Marcel

In May 1951, Marcel was called up for military service and later volunteered for the second contingent for Korea. Despite his small size, which earned him the nickname “Bübel”, he served as an ammunition carrier for his mortar squad. On 26 September 1952, Marcel was among the soldiers wounded during an enemy attack at Chokko-Ri. Together with Jean Drauden and Jean Simon, he took refuge in a bunker that collapsed during violent mortar shelling. Jean Simon managed to extract himself from the rubble and call for help. As Lieutenant Lutty and Sergent Mores managed to free Jean Drauden, a second mortar shell exploded near them, killing Mores. Lutty was seriously wounded and had to fall back. Fortunately, Roger Feiereisen, Norbert Edert and Robert Hatto came to the rescue of Marcel, saving him from danger.

Except for the fact that he remained in the Luxembourg Army at least until 1959, not much is known about his life after his return from Korea.
