Having joined the Luxembourg Army on 9 July 1945, Robert was first attached to the Ist Battalion, stationed at the time in Bitburg, Germany. In July 1946, he was transferred to the Medical Corps.

Ranked Caporal, Robert volunteered for the first contingent in 1950. He was one of the rare soldiers who signed up for a second term in Korea. Thus, he kept on fighting alongside the second contingent in 1952. By then, he had already risen to the rank of a Sergent tit.

On 26 September 1952, during a Chinese mortar attack on “King” hill, near Chokko-Ri, he was fatally injured while rushing to the rescue of some injured Luxembourgish soldiers of his section.

An official military funeral was held on 17 March 1953 in Luxembourg City to commemorate both Robert Mores and Roger Stütz. He lies buried in Rambrouch, alongside Royal Air Force pilots shot down during the Second World War.
