After his return from Korea, Lucien remained in the Army and supervised the formation of new recrutes as an instructor at the Ecole de Candidats Gradés d’Infanterie (E.C.G.I.). In 1975, he completed his training as a specialist in explosives and ammunition. In November, he was assigned as a non-commissioned officer to the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit at Waldhof camp. Lucien retired in 1986 and left the Army with the rank of Adjudant-Major.
