René Weydert, son of Jean Weydert and Madeleine Rauen, was born on 11 June 1929. After he attended the local elementary school in Lenningen for eight years, he joined the family winegrowing business and helped his father.

He was called up for his compulsory military service on 7 December 1948. Being attached to the military police, Weydert was assigned to various police stations throughout Luxembourg. Later, he was appointed Caporal. Subsequently René volunteered to join the Second Luxembourgish contingent to contribute to the war effort in Korea.

After his return, he rejoined the military police and successfully passed the police exam in 1954.  In 1971, Weydert was promoted Inspecteur de la police.

He passed away on 21 April 2008 at the age of 78.
